In Conversation: Maxine Gordon

Join us for a conversation with Maxine Gordon, author, curator, and independent scholar. Maxine is the wife of the late jazz musician Dexter Gordon and has spent her lifetime career working with jazz musicians. She will discuss her new book Sophisticated Giant: The Life and Legacy of Dexter Gordon (University of California Press) on March 15, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. in Turner Recital at the Blair School of Music. The event is in-person, free, and open to the public. The event also features a Blair jazz band “Commercial Break” who will open and close the show. The event is duplicated on March 17, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. at the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) as part of the “Sips and Stanzas” series.
