Fall Semester Buchanan Library Fellowship: Understanding the Fine Arts Gallery Collection using Wikidata and AI

This project will introduce the Fellows to Wikidata, the knowledge graph that anyone can edit. We will work to improve and add to the metadata in Wikidata about Vanderbilt Fine Arts Gallery works using spreadsheet-based software tools that make it easier to add information. We will also explore artificial intelligence (AI) tools that can make our work more efficient. An outcome of the project will be an interactive visualization that will allow Gallery users to explore information about works in the collection. Contact: Steve Baskauf and Kali Mason

The Buchanan Library Fellowship program provides immersive learning experiences that develop career-ready skills and support lifelong learning in undergraduate students. Fellows work in multidisciplinary cohorts on tactical projects for Vanderbilt libraries over the course of a semester to make library collections more accessible or shed new light on a collection or topic.  At the end of the semester, fellows present their work and share their findings with the Vanderbilt community.  Fellows are paid $1,000 for their work.  Apply Here
