On behalf of the staff at the Eskind Biomedical Library, I want to offer our best wishes to the VU and VUMC community as we go through these trying times. We are striving to be as proactive as possible as both campuses transition to an increased digital presence and utilization of online information resources.
- We are open but anticipate a reduction in operating hours due to potential environmental exposure and staffing. Hours will be updated on our website.
- New hours (effective 3/13/20): Saturday and Sunday 12:00 pm to 6:00pm | Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 6:00 pm
- Effective 3/14/20, EBL access will be restricted to badge access for students, staff, and faculty from VUSM (Basic Sciences, MD), VUSN, and VUMC
- We are working with our Acquisitions Department to place rush orders on all requested electronic books. It is our philosophy for all books to have multiple or unlimited concurrent users.
- Document Delivery is only accepting requests for digital materials at this time. Electronic journal articles and book chapters can be requested but please be aware of delays due to the closures or under-staffing of our partner libraries.
- At this time, we will order any book requests but in electronic format, if available.
- We have ten study rooms and a training room for faculty who need space to teach their virtual classes. If you have local instructors who do not have dedicated office space, we will gladly schedule (one-time or recurring) a room for them with advanced notice.
- The Ask Us form is still the main point of contact for assistance. We monitor this form seven days a week.
- We are utilizing Skype for Business for virtual consultations and are happy to join in meetings or courses through other videoconferencing platforms.
- Skype for Business allows for Instant Messaging (chat), video calls, and screen sharing
