Peabody Staff Spotlight: Leslie Foutch

Leslie Foutch is the subject librarian for the Human & Organizational Development department. She has been at Vanderbilt for 18 years.

  1. What is something about your job that you wish everyone knew?  I have very little time to read books. So many people have said to me over the years that I bet working in a library is real treat,  I bet you read lots of books. 🙂 I was always smile and think to myself “I wish my job was that easy”.
  2. What’s a professional accomplishment that you’re particularly proud of? I love working students and I am always pleased when students come visit and tell me that my assistance helped them with a paper or project. It’s the small victories that count the most.  I am also pleased to hear from students who have left Vanderbilt and who continue to keep me in the loop with what they are currently doing. I’ve received wedding invitations and a few baby announcements over the years. Many former students are my Facebook friends.
  3. When you’re not at work, what’s your favorite thing to do to fill your time? My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family. I have a 10 year old son who keeps me busy and entertained. So spending time with my husband and son is a top priority of mine. Being a working Mom & wife is its own career so learning how to balance your time is important.
