Last Week to Complete Survey for the New Catalog

One of the biggest changes to happen in Vanderbilt’s libraries in the last 20 years is underway. Beginning in late July, students and faculty will have access to an easier and faster way to search the university library collections. Since the current system’s implementation in 1997, technology has changed. The new catalog will allow more intuitive and robust searching.

Since early March, we’ve shared a user survey on our home page to gather feedback on the system. This is your chance to tell us how you like to search for library materials.  What fields should be visible in the search box? What collections should be included in the default search? How do you want to sort, filter, or refine your results? Answers to these and other questions will help the libraries create an interface that addresses your needs.

The user survey closes May 11.  Thanks to all of you who have completed it– we have had over 700 submissions to date.  Your input is helping us shape the way the system works for Vanderbilt University. If you have not already done so, please take a few moments to complete the survey here . It should take less than 5 minutes.  The new system will provide more integrated, seamless, faster searching—but only with your help!
