Pop-Up Exhibition on Shakespeare’s Othello

In honor of the Bard’s birthday bash, which will take place on the library lawn this coming Monday, April 23, 2018, this exhibition shares a sampling of materials from the Special Collections Library that feature the famous tragedy, Othello.

Several depictions of this work are on display, including: a photograph of a performance of Othello recorded for the Philco Television Playhouse, a television series live on NBC from 1948-55, which won several awards; a playbill promoting a production of Othello designed by Robert Edmond Jones, a stage designer whose visual style was revolutionary for his time; and a book from the Nettie Hale Rand Collection of Fine Bindings and Printing, which in addition to a gorgeous gilt binding, also has beautiful illustrations of key characters from Othello.

Stop by the Central Library lobby between April 20-27 to see this exhibition, and join us for more birthday merriment this coming Monday.
