On August 27th from 1:00pm-4:00pm, Vanderbilt Libraries welcomed students into the Central Library Community Room for an Ice Cream Social. With the help of Ben and Jerry’s, library staff stationed around the Community Room visited with students as they created sundaes and learned about all the campus libraries. To make the afternoon even sweeter, students filled out raffle tickets at each library table they visited to enter to win a Microsoft Surface Tablet. In just one hour the Ice Cream Social hosted over 200 students, and by the end of the event 419 ice cream cups were served. Interim Library Dean Jody Combs drew the raffle ticket of lucky winner, Sarah Andrews, pictured. Sarah received a brand-new Microsoft Surface Table and a Snugg tablet case. Library staff enjoyed meeting with new and returning students, and are looking forward to seeing them again throughout the year.
