Participants of Vanderbilt University Libraries Edit-A-Thon will have the opportunity to utilize resources of the University’s Special Collections, such as photos and historical documents, to write and edit Wikipedia articles. Prior experience editing Wikipedia articles is not required to join in this fun event intended to improve the popular online encyclopedia. Experienced Wikipedians will provide an orientation and be available throughout the event.
Vanderbilt University buildings will be the theme of this Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon. Despite their rich and intriguing histories, many buildings at Vanderbilt do not have individual Wikipedia articles. Undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, staff and Wikipedians of all experience levels are encouraged to create and improve Wikipedia entries during the event. This is a unique opportunity for people curious about the history of campus buildings or interested in contributing to Wikipedia.
The Edit-A-Thon will be held at Vanderbilt University Special Collections, 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Saturday, November 16th. Food will be provided. Registration is limited to 15. RSVP through Wikipedia Meetup or send an email to Yun Cha, yun.cha@vanderbilt.edu.
