Maria Jeritza Costume on Display at the Central Library

A new costume has been installed at the Central Library as part of the Stage & Screen Exhibit. Maria Jeritza’s costume from her role as Octavian in Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier is currently on display in the lobby of the 4th floor. Jeritza (1887–1982), a Moravian-born American soprano performed this role sixteen times at the Metropolitan Opera from 1924 until 1930. The costume is on loan from the Metropolitan Opera Archives.
