Jaws dropped at last week’s announcement that U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander will step down from his leadership position in January to work on “policy,” not party, but his friends said such a move was vintage Lamar. Alexander’s nonpartisan, moderate approach to decision-making are evident in an exhibit of his life and career at Vanderbilt University’s main library.
