Work on Flowers Wing elevators will begin on Monday, June 21. Elevator #4 will be shut down beginning Monday morning, leaving only one of the main elevators in operation. The construction crew will be cutting and moving steel in the elevator shaft between elevator 4 and the new soon-to-be-installed elevator. An exhaust fan is being installed to remove fumes, though the smell of smoke may still be present in certain areas of the building.
Noise levels throughout the GLB are going to be high for approximately the next 2-4 weeks. This will include a combination of sawing, drilling and jack hammering that is needed to create the opening for the new elevator and elevator pit.
