Vanderbilt’s Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries will collaborate with global publishing and analytics company Elsevier’s Cell Press to elevate the visibility and impact of Vanderbilt University research. The new agreement will allow Vanderbilt-affiliated corresponding authors to publish open access in Cell Press hybrid journals without incurring article processing charges (APCs).
This agreement removes a significant financial barrier to open access publishing, making it easier for Vanderbilt researchers to share their discoveries with the broadest possible audience. Open access articles are immediately available to readers worldwide for free, increasing opportunities for discovery, collaboration, citation, and real-world impact.
“By investing in agreements such as these, the Heard Libraries are continuing to advance the university’s commitment to expanding the reach and influence of Vanderbilt scholarship while supporting researchers throughout the publishing process,” said Jon Shaw, dean of libraries and letters and Connie Vinita Dowell University Librarian at Vanderbilt.
The Cell Press portfolio includes many of the world’s most influential journals in the life sciences, medicine, physical sciences, engineering, and other interdisciplinary subjects, making them highly sought-after publication venues. Through this collaboration, Vanderbilt researchers will have access to trusted, high-impact journals with the added benefit of publishing open access without paying an APC.
