During the 2025–2026 academic year, the Eskind Biomedical Library continued to advance Vanderbilt’s missions of research, education, and patient care through meaningful partnerships across Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Vanderbilt University. Library staff recorded 1,457 reference, research, and engagement consultations and delivered 79 instruction and education sessions, connecting faculty, clinicians, researchers, staff, residents, fellows, and students with the evidence, expertise, and resources needed to succeed. Increasingly, investigators sought librarians as active collaborators throughout the research lifecycle—from refining research questions and conducting comprehensive literature searches to supporting evidence syntheses, scholarly communication, and publication. These partnerships contributed to journal articles, systematic and scoping reviews, clinical practice guidelines, grant applications, research posters, quality improvement initiatives, and other scholarly products that advanced discovery and informed patient care.

As research continues to become more collaborative and evidence-driven, the Eskind Biomedical Library remains committed to expanding its impact through innovative services, strategic partnerships, and expert guidance. In 2025, Vanderbilt researchers produced more than 18,000 publications indexed in PubMed, Embase, and CINAHL, reflecting the breadth and impact of the institution’s scholarly activity. While these publications reflect the collective work of investigators across the institution, they also underscore the vibrant research enterprise the library supports through expert consultation, evidence synthesis, instruction, and scholarly communication services. Building on this year’s accomplishments, the library will continue to strengthen research partnerships, expand support for scholarly communication and open science, and help the Vanderbilt community discover, create, and share knowledge.
