As you prepare to graduate, it’s important to understand how your access to legal research databases will change this summer.
For Law Students About to Graduate (3Ls)
Westlaw (Thomson Reuters)
- Graduating students may continue using Westlaw through the Grad Elite program for up to six months after graduation. This includes a monthly usage limit and is intended for bar preparation and skill-building—not client billing.
- You must opt in to Grad Elite access.
Students can activate access through their Westlaw account via the Grad Elite option.
Lexis+
Your law school access to Lexis+ continues through June 30, 2026. After that date, your account will transition automatically to a graduate view.
- Access continues for bar preparation and learning
- Lexis+ AI is not included by default and requires separate enrollment through the graduate portal
For Current Law Students (1Ls & 2Ls)
Summer access remains available:
- Westlaw may be used for non-commercial purposes only (e.g., coursework, journals, externships, nonprofit work)
- Lexis+ allows broader use, though employer policies may still apply
