Please join us for a talk by Dr. Andrea Schellino in the 1101 Building classroom. This talk explores how the myth of the poète maudit, forged by Paul Verlaine, shaped the modern idea of the artist as rebel. From 19th-century Paris to the European avant-garde, we’ll discuss how poetry became a form of resistance (against society and language), vision, and self-invention.
The 1101 Building is located at 1101 19th Avenue South, on the corner of Scarritt Ave and 19th Avenue South, behind the Wesley Parking Garage. Public parking is available in the Wesley Parking garage as well as Metro metered parking on Scarritt Avenue and 19th Avenue South.
