Camille Ivey, Health Sciences Informationist, retires after 27 years of service

After more than 27 years at the Eskind Biomedical Library, Camille Ivey will be entering retirement on January 16, 2025.

Camille joined Vanderbilt in March 1998 as a Health Information Analyst at EBL, bringing her expertise and enthusiasm to every role she’s held. Originally from Alabama, Camille earned a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Auburn University and a Master of Science in Food Science and Technology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She spent 12 years as a dedicated Dietitian before pursuing her passion for library science. In 2015, while working at EBL, she completed her Master of Science in Information Sciences at UT-Knoxville and was soon promoted to Librarian—a role she embraced wholeheartedly. Camille represented EBL and the principles of medical librarianship by providing the highest level of customer service to affiliated and non-affiliated users. Her efforts rarely went unnoticed as she was constantly showered with gratitude from our users as well as attribution for her assistance. Camille has played a pivotal role in launching our evidence synthesis services and has co-authored both a scoping review and a meta-analysis. Additionally, she has been recognized for her contributions to developing search strategies and supporting review methodology on 13 other manuscripts.

Known for her warmth and genuine connections, Camille is truly a people person. She has built strong relationships with her colleagues, students at the Information Desk, security guards, janitorial staff, and countless library patrons. Regular visitors would often stop by to say hello to her with her absence felt when she was out of the office—many would leave kind messages and well wishes.

In retirement, Camille is looking forward to spending more time with her sister in Alabama and enjoying her home with her beloved cats. While her colleagues at EBL are thrilled about her new chapter, her presence will be deeply missed by everyone who has had the pleasure of working with her.
