In March, Vanderbilt Libraries will join individuals and organizations across the globe for a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon designed to improve content on feminism, gender and the arts on Wikipedia sites.
Art+Feminism 2019 is in the fifth year of a six-year campaign that focuses on gender and non-binary artists and encourages new editors to participate, especially women who represent less than 10 percent of Wikipedia editors.
Vanderbilt History of Art Professor Vivien Fryd will open the session with a discussion of gender and feminism in art. Instruction on how to edit Wikipedia will be provided by experienced editors. All skill levels are welcome, and no prior editing experience is necessary.
Vanderbilt Libraries hosts six Wikipedia Edit-a-thons on various topics throughout the year partnering with other cultural organizations in Nashville and middle Tennessee.
This session will be held on March 13 in the Central Library, Room 418A from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For more information or to register, please contact mary.a.caton@vanderbilt.edu.
