My name is Julie Whitaker Hornsby and I am from Manhattan, even though my heart belongs in the South 🙂 I’ve been wanting to move to a Southern state for quite a good time and I am very happy that going to college has given me the opportunity to do so 🙂 I am a Civil Engineering major, with a focus on environmental issues and a minor in Italian. In terms of extracurricular activities, I go to the Nashville Humane Association every Sunday to walk their adorable dogs while they are waiting to be adopted into a loving home, I am the president of VIVA (Vanderbilt Initiate for Vegetarian and Vegan awareness), a member of SPEAR (our school’s sustainability club), a tutor for High School students through a club on campus called Synergy, an ambassador for college students with disabilities who are in the Next Steps Program at Vanderbilt, and a Italian tutor for two baseball players. I love to cook vegan food for my friends and family, I adore country music with all my heart, and I love helping others. I live my life with the following saying in mind: “let your smile change the world, but never let the world change your smile”.
