Workshop on Bringing Historical Maps into the Digital Age
Friday February the 13th, 11:00 AM Central Library
Maps have long been used as a window into the past, showing how cities and societies were arranged and giving insight into cultures. Geographic information systems (GIS) bring maps into the computer age by allowing users to recreate maps digitally.
On Friday, Lindsey Fox will teach a workshop on using GIS to create and serve maps. This workshop will give participants a basic understanding of different GIS technologies and how they can be combined to create a digital map. Participants will gain the ability to engage the past more fully and see the present differently, all through a knowledge of GIS technology.
