Hello! My name is Nadiah Nordin, and I am currently a chemical engineering major in the Class of 2016 as well as considering minors in chemistry and nanoscience and nanotechnology.
Home is a wonderful one-and-a-half story house in Kuantan, Malaysia, where I live with my parents, who are secondary school teachers, and my three siblings. My hobbies include reading, listening to music, taking walks, and hanging out in cafés. By the way, Provence Breads and Café in Hillsboro Village is my favorite! I absolutely love their scrambled eggs for breakfast during the weekends, paired with a latte or hot tea.
Apparently teaching is in my blood because for the life of me I could not imagine myself in a chemical engineering plant. You might wonder why I am an engineering major – I find it a brilliant way to apply scientific principles in a less esoteric way. That being said, I would really like to go to graduate school so that I could become a professor of chemical engineering and/or chemistry.
What I like about my job at the SEL is the people. The library staff and my colleagues are incredibly nice, and they make me feel like I am already part of the family even though I am a relatively new addition. I had been a library assistant when I was in school, too, so getting to do it in a college setting adds a bit of familiarity to the ever-evolving state of life.
