The Global Music Archive recently added Inanga: A Song of Survival in a Daughter’s Rwanda, a 38-minute documentary conceived and filmed by Blair School of Music faculty member Dr. Gregory Barz during the summers of 2009 and 2010. Barz attempted to document the rich role played by the inanga within Rwandan culture and society both before and after the genocide of 1994. This documentary is available free for download at the Global Music Archive website, and is accompanied by program notes as well as 21 audio tracks of performances by Rwandan musicians featuring this traditional instrument.
